Finding the Elfin Forest

Getting to Morro Bay Area

Finding the Elfin Forest is rather easy once you get to the general Morro Bay area. The Forest is on the northeast end of Los Osos (about 2 miles south of the City of Morro Bay). See the map below.

General Location Map of the Elfin Forest

More specifically, if you are coming from the north on Highway 1 (from Monterey/Carmel or Hearst Castle): Once in the city of Morro Bay, proceed on Highway 1 until you are just about to leave the city, heading east, where you'll see an off-ramp for Los Osos. Turn right onto South Bay Blvd. Proceed about 2 miles to the first stop light. Turn right onto Santa Ysabel. Turn right on any of the next seven streets (17th through 11th). You are there. See "Parking at the Elfin Forest" below.

If you are coming from the north on Highway 101: Proceed to San Luis Obispo. As you approach San Luis Opisbo, you will see signs pointing to Morro Bay and Highway 1. Follow the sign to Hwy 1 (a.k.a. Santa Rosa Blvd). Head west for about 10 miles. Just as you enter the City of Morro Bay you will see an off-ramp for Los Osos. Turn left onto South Bay Blvd. Proceed about 2 miles to the first stop light. Turn right onto Santa Ysabel. Turn right on any of the next seven streets (17th through 11th). You are there. See "Parking at the Elfin Forest" below.

If you are coming from the south on Highway 101 from Santa Barbara / Pismo Beach: Proceed to San Luis Obispo. Just as you arrive, you will see signs for Los Osos Valley Road. Take this exit and head west to Los Osos—about 9 miles. Shortly after entering Los Osos you will come to a stop light. Turn right onto South Bay Blvd. Continue about 2 miles to Santa Ysabela (second of two more stop lights). Turn left. Turn right on any of the next seven streets (17th through 11th). You are there.
